Wildlife Mountain – Northern NSW

Susanne’s Home and Wildlife Sanctuary

Nestled in the lush landscapes of Northern New South Wales, Wildlife Mountain is both Susanne’s home and a sanctuary for Australian wildlife. Surrounded by native bushland, forests, and creeks, the property provides a peaceful refuge where injured and orphaned animals can recover before returning to the wild.

For more than 25 years, Susanne dedicated her life to caring for Australia’s native animals. As an experienced wildlife rehabilitator she has worked with a wide variety of species, from birds and reptiles to mammals both large and small. Her work required patience, knowledge, and an unwavering commitment to giving each animal the best possible chance of recovery.

Over the years, Susanne has also spent considerable time training and mentoring new wildlife carers, sharing her knowledge and practical experience with others who want to help injured wildlife. Through this work she has helped many people develop the skills and confidence needed to care for native animals responsibly and compassionately.

Wildlife Mountain is not only a place of rehabilitation, but also a living landscape where wildlife thrives naturally. Wallabies graze in the surrounding bushland, birds fill the trees with calls at dawn and dusk, and countless smaller creatures live quietly within the forest ecosystem.

Much of Susanne’s work involved long hours caring for animals that had been injured, orphaned, or displaced. Each rescue tells a different story — some animals are rehabilitated and returned to the wild, while others remain in care longer while they regain strength and independence.

Through her experience, Susanne has developed a deep understanding of Australia’s wildlife and the challenges many species face. Wildlife Mountain reflects her belief that education, compassion, and sharing knowledge are essential for protecting the animals that share our landscapes.

Living so closely with nature also offers a constant reminder of the resilience and beauty of Australia’s wildlife. Every day brings new encounters and new opportunities to help ensure these remarkable animals continue to thrive in the wild.
